Baby Gear Help PLEASE!!?
So my husband and I are having our first child and we are trying to find out whats the best baby stuff to buy… ie.. Cribs, Changing Tables, Strollers and Car Seats, and if theres anything i’m missing?? Theres so many options and i’m so confused and we really do not want to have to spend a ton of money for all that designer baby gear… Were buying what will work for boy/girl right now I find out the sex in a few weeks but i’d like the cribs and other things to be able to be passed down to future babys… Thanks yall for the help

all that baby gear, you really dont need half of it.
Change tables, we ended up using the floor a month after our baby was born.
Car seats, we got a alpha omega 3 in 1. 100.00 at walmart
Cribs, Well it all depends on your style and what you want on your crib we went basic and safe, spent around 250.00 from the brand Storkcraft.
Dont forget about baby nail clippers, I used cuticle scissors, cause I cut my LO tip of his finger with those standard nail clippers.
Strollers, hey its all up to what you want and how much you’ll use, I got a Instep Jogging Stroller. Free with my airmiles points.
My best advice to you is get a stroller that has an attachable car seat that also comes with a base to keep in your car to take the carseat right from the stroller and click it right into the car. Makes life easy! Also…get a BOPPY. I dont know what I would have done without one. It helps for feedings wether you are nursing or bottle feeding. You can also prop the baby up while sitting on the floor. BOPPYS are awesome! Best Wishes to you!
The thing I regret is not looking into the consignment store sooner. We can afford to buy new, but were amazed at the great, hardly touched stuff they had for a third of the price – I sound like a commercial. But things like high chairs and playcenters, were so much less.
The other thing I regret, is this great looking wood high chair – that was a super pain to clean. The best thing you can do is get another parents input when registering for stuff. You will also want a Swifter Wet Jet when they start eating solids. And a ton of C & D batteries.
And swaddling blankets in the right size. The stolen hospital ones are always the best.
First of all,you named all the basics. I would go to Walmart and see if you can get any good low prices. A changing table is not always necessary, cause you can just change them on the bed with a towel. I would get a neutral colored car seat and stroller, so you can keep it and hand it down. A packnplay or travel swing is always nice and easy to fold and travel with. A baby bath tub is sometimes nice but the sink is always good and you can get one of those sponges for about $4. If you have a Sams or Costco, I would go there and get diapers in big bulk and also wipes. Bottles you can get at your grocery store and see which one your baby likes the best. Blankets and bedding you can get for low prices at Walmart. Most companies have coupons or programs that you can sign up for online. Good Luck and have fun!
all of the above and more; check out baby gear at babies r us online; and i didn’t think i would even need a changing table and I LOVE MINE….and def a pack and play, maybe a carrier? get an infant seat, easy to carry when bub is sleeping….you can also look at other ppl’s registries on brus by typing in a common name like smith, k or something like that…..that’s what i did when i needed a little help, LOL
btw if you want to pass down your crib may not work, but to save money a convertible crib…some go from crib to toddler bed to daybed to full size bed…..no more beds to buy! and they aren’t that exp compared to the others….i love mine! it’s beautiful and after looking at some i didn’t like nearly as much, i realized it really wasn’t as exp as i thought..LOL
and i love backpack diaper bag; handsfree!!
changing tables are a waste of money. your gunna change a diaper just a bout anywhere. buy either a swing OR bouncer. no need for both. Target is a good place to look
First of all congrats to y’all.
Baby gear is great to have! we bought a changing table and crib that match and my daughter is 19 months and we still use it! and the next thing is a Diaper genie Unless you use cloth. Wiper warmer! nothing to make a baby scream liek something thats cold and wet on a warm babys bottom! we still use that too! Bottle warmer, if u plan on bottle feeding. I nursed and we used it to sanatize the pacifiers and it also warmed up baby food jars! a rocking chair or glider. a Vibrating bouncy chair, swing, door way jumper (you can get that later) Pack and play bassinet/playpen/changint table combo. great we used it in the living room and as a bassinet in our room and we were using it untill she learned how to clinb out!
Good luck, these are the things we bought and used the most!
Buy a crib and carseat these are the 2 most essential items for when baby comes home from hospital. Take your time buying a pram and if you plan on having more children look at pram which can take toddler seat (phil and teds more expensive but very much worth it) I don’t like the travel systems because you aren’t really going to get a great amount of use out of the capsule (4months) and then you need to by a carseat anyway and babies really shouldn’t spend a great deal of time in them because babies need to be lying flat and that is not possible in the capsules. Check out ebay you can get some real bargains and many things are new.
Also I could never have lived without my rocker helped keep baby happy when I had things to do.
Really, it’s up to you based on what you like. There are tons of wonderful products out there that are reasonably priced. I’ve never been much for name brands since most of the time, it’s the name you’re paying all of that extra money for. For a crib, there are several convertibles that go from a crib to a toddler bed then to a twin bed- they cost more, but the concept is that you will never have to buy another bed. We just went with a basic crib because they are much cheaper since the convertibles came out. Plus, when our son got older, we wanted to get a bed that fit his personality anyway. There are also car seats that go from infant to toddler, those are a good investment- ours was about $50 and was very worth it. We never bought a changing table. We used the couch, his bed, or our bed to change him. I bought a stroller but ended up selling it since we very rarely used it. If you’re not opposed to used items- you could check thrift stores or sign up for yahoo freecycle. You’d be amazed at the amount of really great stuff you get for next to nothing! However, I would NOT recommend buying a used car seat. You’re not supposed to use them if they’ve been in an accident and buying used- you wouldn’t know if they had or not.
Baby Monitor and a Mobile
You can make your own mobile – google for how.
Eye makeup and lipstick for you – the added contrast will help the little one recognize your expressions more easily.
Look for thrift stores in your area to save some money, and think about some cute clothes and blankets. First ones can be tan or white.
Baby gear I LOVE IT lol. For a newborn the only things you really need is a car seat and playpen / bassinet. For both my kids I had a playpen that had a bassinet in it. They are great and are small.. they fit beside most beds well and if you ever go somewhere portable.. So baby can sleep in a familiar place. A swing is a wonderful thing to have .. sometimes. My dau loved it .. my son doesn’t really like his. Ask friends or family members if then have any hand me down.. they are really the best.. if not yard sales… it you really want new wal mart and big lots has the best prices on baby thing and they are built well.
I bought a book called Baby Bargains by Denise and Alan Fields that helped me a lot. I was able to determine what I really needed and what I didn’t, and what I could get used versus new, and what products other parents liked best.
In my own experience, instead of buying a changing table, we put a changing “mattress” on a dresser. And instead of using that, we used the floor or a bed more often, with a portable pad underneath.
