What kind of dog bed is good for a yellow lab who gets stinky?

11

He has one of those flannel patterned dog beds in his crate made out of fluffy fleece and it stinks a week after bathing him. He stays in the house all day and just sits in his bed and makes it stinky. He loves his dog bed but the smell is too much…what material other than garbage bags wont hold the smell as much?

Labs are the SMELLIEST! I have one too. Try to find one that the filling can be removed so that you can wash the lining as needed. We found one at Cabela’s (www.cabelas.com). Just buy some cotton filling at a craft store so that you can refill it with fresh cotton after you wash it.

get a big plastic bed, with the cushions that go inside. then you can just buy blankets to go in it, and if they get stinky, you can just throw them away

you can try a ceder filled bed I bought mine at Costco for like $18 and it smells great plus the cover is removable so I can wash it every now and then!

You should get a dog bed with a removeable cover that you can wash. I have some for my dogs that the filling has not only the cottom padding, but bits of cedar in it which smells great. They wake up every morning smelling great. And, I swear they even feel cleaner when I pet them. It’s like they had a bath in their sleep. Try that, and wash the cover at least once a week…

Just get a removable case even a duvet for a regular mattrass and wash it weekly. Cedar is a good filling for the pad or pillow.

Dogs get “stinky” only because they are NEGLECTED by their owners.

Dr’s foster and smith make great odor repellent beds. It can help resist odors but not 100%. But I would just make a habit of washing the bed every 2 weeks, just taking the outer cover off and letting the bed air out in the sun once in a while as well. I use a nice soft blanket to cover the dog bed so it makes washing the blanket easier than the whole bed. Also, maybe more bathing is in order for your Lab.

I would say a Patented Kuranda Dog Bed they are
durable, chew proof and easy to clean. Fom time to
time spray some Fabrise on it or put old towles in the
bed like I do with my dog. When the towles get stinky
just stick them in the washer dry them and put them
    back in the bed.
