What kind of fabric should I use for a dog bed?

10

I want to make my own no sew dog bed. (The kind where you fringe the edges and tie them together instead of sewing) What is the best fabric to resist hair and tearing?

Coolaru beds are much neater than cloth beds. You can take them outside and hose them down. they cost more, but once you get them you dont have to keep rebuying them.

    fleece.

Fleece is pretty tough, washes well, and doesn’t fray.

… if your dogbed “resists hair”, then that hair will just settle elsewhere in your house. I’d seriously recommend a fabric that collects hair, as you can wash that out with ease.

Canvas or sailcloth are strong, washable and frayable. Perfect for what you want to do and will last virtually forever.
Also to remove dog hair all you have to do with these materials is brush or vacuum them. Hey Presto, it’s magic!

They love lambs wool and it’s sturdy, warm and cozy. I don’t know how difficult it is to sew though. I am not a seamstress. Good luck and I hope your doggie bed looks fabulous and the dog will love it!

neoprene, easy to clean, warm. use a hole punch (instead of a cut slit) and bind together with string or twine
