AIDS IS A THIEF: Stories of Affliction and Beauty
The following images are a documentary of Africa’s struggle against the fight of HIV/AIDS. What is evident is the beauty between the suffering. The beauty is found in the music, laughter, and strength of the African people. The people who struggle every day with this pandemic. It is the ebony eyes of children reflecting our image, the volunteers extending a hand on knelt knee, teachers etching ribbon gardens on school grounds, students bashfully singing to visitors, an all woman factory stitching baby clothing to support their families and the families of lost sisters and brothers, the pastors that find strength in places where most flee…We could go on but the hope of these images is to not to be overwhelmed and ask ‘why we should help?’ but HOW we should help, engage, and weigh in the lives of people one individual at a time. Warehouse chooses to engage through income generating activity where funds are allocated to drive economic revitalization and dignity.
