Should all of the baby’s furniture and gear match even if it’s not all in the nursery?
For example, should the bouncer match with the bassinet, even if the bouncer is going to be in the living room? & same with the playard. Today I went shopping for my baby and I bought a bassinet, high chair, dresser, and bouncer. The bouncer that I got is a completely different color and design than the rest of the stuff, and I am thinking of taking it back for a more simple pink one. Also, it looks like it’s kind of more for boys. Although, it was really cute and plus it’s going to be in the living room. I don’t know what to do and it’s really bothering me. Here are the links to the furniture I bought so far, please tell me what you think.

Okay, nothing, NOTHING, has to match anything else! The baby is not going to care if the bassinet matches the carry cot!
If it good quality, safe, reliable furniture then it is okay, aspects such as colour or pattern should come second to that.
keep that bouncer! The little one will love the colors.
None of the things that I got for my son matched. I got what I liked and what I thought would be best for my son
I think the only thing that needs to match is the changing table and crib. That’s really the only things that are big enough to matter and located next to each other. You did a great job picking out things for your baby!
I am convinced that most patterns and designs are for the parents more than the child. Children are attracted to bright colors for activity (they can see them better), so I think the bouncer is great. I also think that animals are neutral, so it is not too boyish at all.
The baby gear will be out all of the time, so it should be something you like to look at in the room you plan on putting it in.
Have fun shopping!
Personally i like my nursery furniture to match so I would be buying a white crib to go with the white dresser/changer and a white rocking chair etc….
Also i like the bedding to match, i like the complete bedding sets that all match but thats me! I don’t like mismatched things!
But the other stuff doesn’t matter at all, like bassinette and highchair and bouncer.
I don’t mind that bouncer, but out of experiece, swings work much better! I have a fisher price takealong swing and its fantastic. You can fold it up and it goes anyway you want to take it and the swinging seems to soothe better than the vibration so I’ve found. I would take it back and exchange it if your not 100% happy or you’ll regret it!
Heres the link to the babies r us swings, they have some real cute ones!

best of luck
aww! I want a baby, all those things are so cute!
Nothing really needs to match, especially if it is different rooms. If you want things to match, get things that go (match) in the room that you are putting them in.
But lots of colours is also good for kids, visually stimulating for them, so doesn’t mean they will have the same tastes as you. So it doesn’t matter, anything baby related will look so good in any part of your house, no matter what design it may be.
OK, first things first. No, they don’t all have to match. What HAS to happen is that you get a bouncer that your baby will LOVE. We bought a relatively expensive one and she hated it. Then we went to Wal-Mart and got a jungle one that had little giraffes, etc hanging down and she LOVED it. It was $14.99. As she grows you will want to buy more things that match (shoes and clothes) and you’ll also want to buy things that will match YOUR clothes (because that is SOOO MUCH FUN!!).
PLUS, the bouncer will be in the living room, so it doesn’t have to match anyway. >>
Nothing has to match at all! Her crib, dresser, and changing table all match but that’s because they came as a set so they are natural colored. Her bassinet is pure white except for the colored mattress covers I put on her pad on purpose. She has an ocean bouncer and also a winnie the pooh tan bouncer. You just get what you like and what works for the baby.
more babies have grown up in unmatched accessories then have matched ones. they dont care, as long as they are taken care of.
Unless you want to spend a crazy amount of money…nothing needs to match. Our highchair was blue with bears on it, our bassinet was sage green, our bouncer was a bouncer/toddler rocker in one so it didn’t match anything…the baby isn’t going to care if it matches or not. As long as he/she is taken care of.
Honestly, I like when things are all different and don’t “match” perfectly. To me, it looks like Fisher Price threw up all over the house!! LOL
What you got is fine. The bouncer is adorable! It doesn’t look boy-ish at all!
Get what YOU like, and don’t worry about the rest of it!!
That stuff looks great. The only thing I keen on matching was the babys actual nursery. i wanted the matching dresser changing table to all be black. It actually turned out we got a NICE free crib that was not black, so not everything matched perfectly but it still looked very nice.
