What’s good for a baby who loves to jump?

28

My son is 5 months and is now in his “I love to jump like crazy” phase. Mommy’s lap has taken a toll from his heavy, bouncing bum and I’d like to know what type of baby gear would be good for him? We live in a teeny tiny apartment and an exercauser or jumperoo would take up way too much room. I’ve seen those doorway hanging jumpers but am unsure if it’s safe? Can you tell me your experiences with it or do you know of anything similar that allows him to jump without taking up lots of room?
He’s on the floor often and is in his Bumbo (supervised) but he prefers to be in someone’s lap jumping to his heart’s content.

Johnny jump up—both of my kids used it at that age and would be in there for an hour…..

MY SIS HAS ONE BUT IT’S NOT IN A DOOR WAY IT IS IN AN OPEN ENTRANCE TO A ROOM. A DOORWAY MAY BE TOO SMALL. YOU COULD BUILD A FRAME TO ATTATCH IT TO THE BABIES LOVE IT

My room mate from college has a doorway hanging jumper and it’s totally safe and the baby LOVES it! Also, the baby is now walking ahead of average babies because it’s gotten so much exercise. Also Fisher Price makes a bouncing zebra thing that’s fun for kids.

Those door jumpers are great! We had one, they are safe as long as you supervise. My babies loved them.

Edited to add we used it in a double door entry so it was a nice large space. Also, both my kids walked sooner than later, before one year of age and I credit the jumper to this.

The door way things, the johnny jump ups, theyre TOTALLY safe, and theyre SOOOOO much fun.

Ive never known a mom to not have one.

My son loved his, from about 3 months until 5 months when he started crawling. They take up NO space, and theyre a load of fun. You can roll a towel up and stuff it around him for added support if he needs it.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, a bouncer, make room for your son because you love him.

Most things are safe if properly supervised.

A jumparoo is much better than the doorway jumper. The doorway jumper may let the baby hit the door jam. I am not sure how big of a deal that would be.

They have a toy out that I can’t wait to pick up when my baby is older…that they sit in and can bounce and spin. I think it’s by Fisher Price. It doesn’t look like it takes up too much room…

Also, my parents installed a bouncy seat for my little brother that was put in a door frame. It hung there and when he’d go in it, he just bounced his little heart content.

    buy a johnny jumper

Johnny jumpers go in doorways. I had one when I was a child, and nothing bad ever happened. I would do some research on the safety issues, any recalls, and make sure your read the manual cover-to-cover if you get one. Other than than, just hold him over the couch or bed so he can bounce on that but your legs don’t take the toll.

Get him those jumping seats cant remember name sorry. Gotten my son a couple of types when he was young he loved them and so did I because made him sleep pretty good.

The doorway ones are pretty safe, then again nothing is 100% safe.

My sister in law had a doorway jumper thing. They are safe and very secure. It is better if you have a double doorway to hang it in, because there is more space on either side, but a single doorway works fine. All of her kids used one and they never got hurt from it.

    practice in sand

we could have a new Olympic champion in future

  21. Mrs.Wright says:

I have 7 kids I have always used the doorway hanging jumpers…Just make sire that the wood or frame of the doorway has enough room to clamp it on and make sure it’s sturdy…

  22. derrick t says:

My little brother used to bounce on one of those doorway jumpers, as long as the frame of the door which it is attatched to is secure, then it should be fine.

the doorway hangers never seem to be safe enough for me. i suggest the fisher price rainforest jumparoo. it is very easy to put together and take apart. i can do it in about 2 min maybe less. you can store it under your bed when it’s flat.

At 5 months and he is jumping lots? He probably is ready to be on the floor to roll, crawl and sit. Put a large soft blanket on the floor and put him on his tummy to excercise his neck muscles, arms and shoulders and more! He seems like he will be a very active baby. A bouncer is great, but if he is that strong at 5 months, he might grow out of it soon. Good luck

  25. kittymom says:

Yes the doorway jumpers are safe, providing they are put up correctly. They can jump till there heart’s content, and since they are in the doorway they do not take up any space.

  26. Faye D says:

i think u should let him jump on the bed.

  27. alexis G says:

there is a toy called the zebra bounce and spin from fisher price that will be the best

jumper bumper!!! my daughter LOVED hers =P It doesn’t take up too much room and be taken down when not used.. It hangs in any doorway. my daughter loved hers alot. My husband was a little weary about if it was safe too, so he tested it by putting a lot more weight on it than she weighed to make sure it wouldn’t come off the doorway and it didn’t. To be safe and make you feel better, I would make sure you have a good ‘lip’ on the doorway that you may plan on hanging it. I have never heard of them slipping off or anything. My mom even had one for me when I was a baby =)
