Create-a-Tale is Fantastic Fun for a Five year Old!

Hi all. Stacy again. I had to come on over and tell you about Create-a Tale. I have to admit, when I first opened Create a Tale to review it, I wasn't all that impressed. Wait, wait, it gets better. Ok, so the graphics are not Disney. They don't claim to be. And the stories are pretty simplified. Is this heading out to be a bad review? Absolutely not. You see, I may not think this Create a Tale DVD is "da Bomb" but... is it for me? No... It's for Sophia.... And let me tell you, Sophia LOVES THIS DVD!!
Last night after Sagan went to bed I handed her the remote ( a must have to purchase this DVD, the stories will not work with out a DVD remote) and let her at it. You simply play the disc in any DVD player, and at different points, children decide which path the story will take. A new story is created every time! Designed for children ages 3-6, these interactive stories have been acclaimed by parents and teachers for educating children on fundamental reading and critical thinking skills.
Overall, this DVD is addictive. It has a low learning curve, so your little one can get started immediately. the 5 interactive stories have names like "Theres a Fly in my Soup", "The Monster Song" and "The Witches Stew". The controls are easy for my five year old to use. Its entertaining, creative, and funny. Sophia gives this DVD a 2 thumbs up. Im still a tad leary of the production value, but it doesnt matter if your kid wants to play with this thing for an hour... perfect for rainy days!
It may look like it was producted in MS Paint, but I assure you that your kid will never know the difference. Kids love two things, playing with the remote and watching stuff on the TV... so this is a perfect combo! Four days later, and she is still asking for this DVD over and over again.

Go get your little thinker a copy of Create-a-Tale today at Amazon.com!

I can see again!

I used to make fun of people who spent more than $20 on a pair of sunglasses. After the month I have had with my eye problems and now the need to pretty much wear sunglasses anytime the sun is even remotely out, I will no longer laugh. Actually I find myself checking out other people's shades now.

After that icky eye thing happened it was recommended that I get a pair of wrap around sunglasses. Sorry guys, I just can't bring myself to enter that level of geekyness and please if someone know where you can find a pair of wrap around that actually look good I'll consider it! The last thing I want is to look like an 80 year old blind person. At least that's the thing I'm attempting to avoid, as with my many visits to the retinal specialist I hang out with those cool cats sometimes weekly.

It seemed almost fate when Julbo contacted me within days of my eye troubles, and little did I know it then, but my Julbo glasses seriously make me feel a thousand times better when m driving. I got a pair of the Spectron 5 Julbo Cube's in pink, of course, which is the highest rated UV protection that will still allow you to drive.

The Julbo Cube is designed for outdoor activities and they come with a super light plastic frame that is actually pretty well done, as thus far Connor has yet to be able to break them, though he has tried on several times. I swear he is getting smarter than I am by the day as he is constantly moving things to climb up to steal things out of my purse no matter where I stash it.

The one thing I noticed right away when I put on my Cube glasses is how tightly they fit to your face, it actually threw me off at first and took some getting used to, but now I love it. With their low profile they mimic fully wrap around glasses, meaning you get little to no light invading around the frames The low profile allows the Cubes to really stay put no matter what your doing. I never have to worry about my glasses falling off my head even if I'm hanging upside down (yes seriously). They actually stay put soo well that I have found myself putting them on top of my head while I'm in a store and spending ten minutes looking for them in my purse only realizing that they were on my head the whole time. No I am not blond, but I hate to admit that I've almost worn them to bed the same way at nap time.

Even in the Alabama heat and intense air conditioning that these local stores like to dish out I have only experienced them fogging up once and that was last week on our most humid and hot day this summer. I can't really blame them seeing as I went from about 60 degrees air conditioned to almost 100 degrees with drastic humidity.

The kids selection at Julbo is even more delicious than the adults. Connor has a pair of the Chocolate/Blue Loopings 3s which not only fit his head fabulously but come complete with spectron 6 glasses which also completely protect his little eyes from damaging UV rays. Though we still have to have a bit of a chat about keeping them on. The color combo really goes perfectly with everything in his wardrobe, which is a huge plus! The best part though is the fact that the frames on the kid's Julbos are super flexible and will easily hold up to almost anything your active toddler can throw at them. Unlike some of the stiff plastic frames I have seen in cheaper glasses I am not even remotely worried about Connor breaking them as he attempts to put them on himself. They also come with an optional strap to keep them on if necessary which we use when we are shopping at the outdoor malls here.

You can check out Julbo's entire line of glasses on their website. I know I personally will not be caught without mine these days. Julbo glasses are available at many sporting good stores or you can buy them directly from Julbo.

Charlee Katz Creations - Simply Stunning!

Hi Everyone! *waves furiously* I'm Stacy, and I'm so thrilled to contribute to Sevendogs! Angela and I have been friends for many many years... I'll tell ya more about that later. First, I want to talk about Charlee Katz.com ... One Word. Divine. These unique and beautiful hats and scarves are so well made, even the pickiest hat lovers will pick these. Now, I know it's July, and its a hard to picture yourself in one of these warm, cuddly hats while you schvitz in the blistering heat, but as you know, now is the time to get a head start on Christmas shopping.

From the time you pull one of these soft, buttery cheneille hats from the box, you will be hooked. They are made with quality stitching, and have a unique look and feel to them. My favorite part is you can get matching hats and scarves for moms and daughters! It just doesn't get any better. I have a friend who knitted Soph and I matching hats and scarves. We looked adorable when we went out, until I stupidly left my hat at a playgroup. Now that Soph has this gorgeous Charlee Katz hat for the chilly months, I can hardly wait for that first crisp day to send her to kindergarden (though maybe not the very first day or her head might melt) in her special Charlee Katz Creation!

Want a gorgeous hat ensemble' for you and your darling? Visit Charlee Katz ( actually, that's her daughter's name) and browse her collection, and read her story. I promise these hats do not disappoint.

This will revolutionalize traveling with young children!!

Little Jet Set sent us over quiet possibly the coolest piece of travel gear I have ever seen, a Trunki!

Why.. and I do mean WHY did they not have these when I was a kid? All those hours stuck I spent in an airport, I find this horribly cruel and unfair that Trunki just showed its cute little horns now that I am too big to enjoy it!

Ah well.. at least Connor will have a friend on all the flights I know we will be making to Chicago to see his grandparents as he grows up.

I have never been more tickled about a piece of luggage in my life. Trunki is no ordinary place to store your clothes, its a lovable toy, luggage, ride on, and treasure box all rolled into one. At first glance it just looks like a new modern looking cow ride on but on closer inspection you realize that with the help of a super secret plastic key Trunki opens up into a hard sided piece of luggage. Its actually quite roomy, Connor's bags are currently packed for our trip this week to Chicago and he has four pairs of shoes, six pairs of socks, and about a dozen outfits along with his bathroom bag all stuffed in there with tons of room to spare. Don't worry I left room for his beloved Stanley, a blanket and some pacifiers as well.

Connor has no clue that Trunki is a piece of luggage he LOVES him, he is still too short to ride him but he pushes him all over the house and drags him by his handle. The carrying handle actually doubles as a pull along for parents. Just put your kid on the Trunki and you can pull them around the airport with you or the child can actually pull their luggage themselves instead of having mom or dad do all the carrying.

Trunki also has a super secret hiding spot built in, though its tiny (about big enough to hold one or two marbles) you can hide your treasure map in there or a special pirates necklace. I don't recommend hiding anything in there during a visit with the airlines as they may not know how to access the treasure hiding spot and see whatever it is on the xray and demolish your Trunki and believe me that would be a sad sad day.

You can buy your own Trunki at Little Jet Set! Along with Trunki they have a great line of wonderful traveling accessories for babies through adults. Including the super cool car valet by Alex and the frog toiletry bag by Haba! I think that frog bag would be the perfect addition to a Trunki!

Head on over to Little Jet Set and pick up a Trunki for yourself.. I promise you your kids will flip and possibly excited for once about those long flights!!

Did that dog just eat your lunch?

I know at least when I was a kid.. that taking your lunch to school was ALL about the lunch box. You certainly did not want to be seen with some ugly paper bag or outdated lunch box, oh no.

Nothing is cuter, nor can they ever be outdated, than these great lunch boxes from Built NY. Munchlers are all simply adorable and the best part is all of them unzip totally flat to be used as a place mat. (the fact that they unzip flat also makes them a breeze to store)

Seeing as they are insulated polypropylene they are super light weight as well, unlike those traditional metal lunch boxes that can be bulky, heavy, and rust, and no fear of the older sibling hitting the younger sibling with it either (.. yeh.. ok.. that happened once with some kids I babysit.. seriously). I love them all but I am especially fond of the Bunny as unlike the other Muchlers you can hold him not only by his ears but he also has straps to be used as a backpack as well! Though he is a little small for me its really handy to throw him over my shoulder with Connor's milk and day snacks when we are headed out the door to dinner or to the park. The place mat feature is also a great place to put his snacks or dinner when I don't feel like packing all the extras on a short outing!

Hop on over to Built NY and check out all their great items including the baby section!

I have a Lefty the Munchler (the dog) to give away to one lucky reader!

I (heart) Dante Beatrix

Dante Beatrix offers an irresistible line of toddler backpacks, so cute I honestly cannot tell you which one is my favorite as I want them all!

After much debate I settled on the Dino backpack for Connor though it was a hard toss up between the dino, shark or bear.

For a kid/toddler sized backpack its actually very roomy and makes for a great day trip bag as well as a second diaper bag and its actually seen almost daily use since it arrived. We use it to tote toys to the grandparents house, as a day bag for when Connor goes to his aunt for "daycare" and as an activity bag when we are around town. Everywhere we go someone asks about his adorable backpack and wants to know where to get one! I mean can you blame them?

Easy to clean and VERY well made Dante Beatrix's backpacks certainly beat the socks off of anything you can buy at those department stores!

Very reasonably priced at $36, I'm highly considering getting Connor a second backpack so we can load one up as a spare diaper bag and one up with his travel goods.

Want one?
You can purchase one directly from Dante Beatrix on their web page or you can search for a store near you!
