Bear (male) and Fire Zone (female) are the best of friends, but their play style can look and sound quite fierce. A casual observer could be forgiven for thinking they were watching a dog fight here! We do monitor the greyhounds at play, ready to distract and divert if the excitement level gets too high, but notice the dogs’ curved postures, the play bows, and how each takes a turn at chasing or being chased. When FZ gets her paw stepped on, she yelps and signals the end of play by returning to the porch. Bear accepts her decision and “shakes it off.” Within 30 seconds of the end of this video, they were sharing a dog bed and falling asleep.
